| Timothy Lee (nepho) | Monday, June 24, 2002 - 06:33 am Hi Oliver, thanks and welcome. I looked for an email adderss under your profile but could not find one. -) My email address is under my profile I also use MSN Instant Messenger (btw does anyone else?) Here's the control cage: I used this image to get simi proportions...hight width ect. The conntrol mesh is a bit "ugly", I'm looking for improvements. This model is my first attempt to get realistic simi-characteristics. The next one I have planed I an going for ultra-realism. Looking forward to hearing from you.

| Timothy Lee (nepho) | Sunday, June 23, 2002 - 07:13 pm Yessss! Back in business. Thanks Brad and Zac! I forgot about that trick. Thank goodness for back up files.
|
| Brad Proctor (rotcorp) | Sunday, June 23, 2002 - 01:42 pm Yeah. Go into explorer, then look around your folder where you saved the original file. Say, for example, you're looking for "girl.scn", then look for a corresponding "girl.bak" file. Move the original .scn file to a different folder (don't delete it), and rename the .bak to .scn (hope I'm not being too confusing with this...) Now open TS and load the newly renamed "girl.scn" file. About 50% of the time, your scene is there, intact. Another possibility, however, is that you didn't actually save this as a scn, but as an object (.cob) and if you were going through the heirarchy while doing this, TS will only save the objects currently selected. I've accidently done this before, but I'm not sure if this would effect the scene as a whole.

| Zac Mansfield (zacm) | Sunday, June 23, 2002 - 10:43 am Hi Nepho, Truespace creates a backup of the scene in the folder where the original scene is saved. Have you tried opening up the backup scene? - Zac

| Timothy Lee (nepho) | Monday, June 17, 2002 - 08:33 pm Thanks again Heath. I've actually seen that tut before. Thanks for the reminder it will help as I refine her a little more, great technique. I wish I had started with a sketch for this model. It would have made things a lot easier. Back to work!

| Heath Aiken (hazmat) | Monday, June 17, 2002 - 07:04 pm Nepho, Once again, great model... I've been looking forward to your updates. I still think that the abs need work, not because they don't look cool, but because they don't match the "soft" nature of the rest of your character. Unfortunately, I can't really give you any detailed advice, as I haven't finished my first human character (too many projects going at once ;) I am going to post a link over in the Tech Forum. It shows in pretty great detail, how to place the control vertices from neck to toe... Good stuff... You may find an alternative method of forming your abdominal control mesh from this. Can't wait to see this model complete! Regards, Heath

| Timothy Lee (nepho) | Wednesday, June 05, 2002 - 06:39 pm Thanx again Heath. She's naked-gasp. I'll have to fix that You could say I'm going for stylized look but she will have hands lol. I haven't messed with tension controls on this model. The abs sharpness is due to parallel defining polygons. Basically when you want to add deffinition to edges add additional edges on either or both sides of an edge. I used Simply Semmetry plugin then bolean unioned the body. I'll add the needed "gravity" also. thanks for that tip. Btw does anyone know of a way to simulate soft body dynamics? I'm trying UV Cow again I want to give her some shine. As for yet she is strickly shaders giving her a even tone. I couuld still use some help w/ UV Cow. I'll get back to her tommorrow. Nephos

| Heath Aiken (hazmat) | Wednesday, June 05, 2002 - 03:21 pm Again Nephos, very cool character... (And I'm not just saying that because she's naked. ;) First of all, she needs hands! Joking! Seriously, it depends on if you are going for ultra realistic, or stylized? If you are going for realistic, I would put some weight into the breasts, but if you're going for stylized, they work just fine. Regardless of style, I would lean more towards adding geometry to the abdominal region, than playing with tension settings. That was the first thing that stood out to me. I'm no expert modeler, but I typically only ever use the tension settings when modeling half of a character (I don't have Primitive itch plugin... what's it called?)... But it's looking real good! Heath

| Heath Aiken (hazmat) | Wednesday, June 05, 2002 - 05:21 am Timothy, I saw this when you first posted it, and am looking forward to seeing more. This is a really cool model, she seems to have personality. Unfortunately, I can't make any suggestions, as I like it the way that it is... Good luck! Are you planning on using Facial Animator? Heath
